How CPS is calculated

CPS (clicks per second) is your total clicks divided by the test length. Forty clicks in 5 seconds is 8 CPS. The timer starts with your first click, so reaction time is not included, and clicks after time runs out are ignored.

The bar chart on the result shows how many times you clicked in each second. For tests longer than 30 seconds, each bar averages several seconds. The flatter the chart, the more evenly you kept your pace.

Clicking techniques

  • Regular clicking: one finger pressing normally. The most accurate and the easiest to sustain.
  • Jitter clicking: tensing the arm and wrist so a tremor drives fast clicks. Quick over short bursts but tiring.
  • Butterfly clicking: two fingers alternating on the same button.
  • Drag clicking: sliding a finger across the button so friction makes it bounce several times. Whether it works depends on the switch and the button surface.

Stop if your wrist or fingers hurt. Several short tries are safer than one long one.

Rank names

The name under your result is just for fun: under 4 CPS is Easygoing finger, 4 and up Steady clicker, 6 and up Quick hands, 8 and up Very fast, 10 and up Lightning finger, and 13 and up Machine-like. It is not an official scale, and the same person can score differently with another mouse or posture.

FAQ

What is an average CPS?
There is no fixed average. Results vary a lot with the duration and technique, so the most useful comparison is with your own earlier scores at the same duration.
Which duration should I pick?
Short tests (1 to 5 seconds) show your top burst speed; long ones (30 seconds or more) show endurance. Only compare results of the same length.
Can I use the keyboard?
In left-click mode, Enter or Space also counts while the box is focused. Auto-repeat from holding a key is not counted.
